I'm confused. If they know about house parties from watching 90s teen movies, then they know every house party starts with something like "Stacey's having a house party because her parents are going to France for 2 weeks." It's not like you ask for permission to have a house party.

Do parents just not leave their teens home alone at all anymore? Or do teens just not have IRL friends anymore? (*probably both)
