I just call it empty and superficial. But I’m the kind of person who when someone asks “how are you doing?” proceeds to actually explain how I am doing.
I used to think it was empty and superficial, but I started to see it as a ritual of arrival, as a way of saying that someone is here open to being with others and not just wanting to express themselves without caring about anyone else.
