Fuck yeah. It's so much better. And the commercial displays are rated for 16/7/365 (on the lower end) so it'll likely last for many years as a TV.
It'd be interesting to see if TV prices go up if successful. If TV companies are following the TEMU model and selling products for dirt cheap because the data they collect is more valuable.

I heard something about how even the old CRT tvs had the ability to spy on you. As in you think you are watching tv but it’s watching you too…don’t know if it’s true though. But I wouldn’t doubt it.

most of the apps run like shit and enabling an internet connection is what enables this. just get a good, cheap set and dont connect it to wifi. if you want to use apps, connect a roku, apple tv or whatever. or be hardcore and plugin a pc

Like almost all appliances don’t give it internet. With HDMI you can boot the tv seamlessly into any external device you want. It gets tricky to get an external device that is clean also but cheaper to solve for that than try find a dumb tv.
