Pretty easy. There’s literally zero reason to buy a CD, while records have a nostalgia factor.

CD doesn't have nostalgia?

CD is a historic medium

CD has much better sound quality and durability

CD has album art and inserts

CD’s are digital, so they aren’t scratching the same analog itch as vinyl.

🤷

To each there own.

Record player + sound system is powerful and highly effective peacocking within the (dominant?) genre of millennials who wish it was / have somehow been largely mind warped to the early 1970s…

thanks for the explanation. i understand the what but seems like there is way to get the why.

it is just a fad

Yes, I much prefer the tactile, analog experience of listening to music via vinyl records.

Sound quality is totally subjective. Many audiophiles prefer the analog sound of vinyl.

I have not bought either in a long time so "no comment" but weird

What goes around comes around.

CD is basically digital, so why not go literally digital?

Vinyl is analog

another reason this trend makes zero sense.

it is really about collecting not music

At least the artist may get a cut but come on you have to listen to it!
