And you’re assuming this was done by the “left,” when it just as easily could have been the “right.” Free speech isn’t the issue. Knots node has increased from 1% to 20% in just a few month, most core node runners don't want to upgrade their node because it will remove the spam filter. Its clear you have the backing of the bitcoin community. You can do this. ✊

Hardwire into the bitcoin protocol that the op_return can't be increased above 80bytes (or even lower).

This will solve the problem.

The transaction fees are nothing when you sell each inscription at 1+ BTC. And even if, that doesn't matter. People will either find a way to make money off spam, or make spam because they want to destroy Bitcoin, not only through destroying its reputation, but through making a node impossible to run and in turn, creating centralization.

I seriously doubt he’s exceptionally good at anything if he can’t be good enough at one of the very basic things that even kids can be good at. Life doesn’t work this way. There’s probably an exception somewhere, as you said he could have one of those modern diseases, but it’s not a risk worth taking for society. It’s not efficient this way. Like hiring women for military or police jobs. It’s not making the world better.

I believe that for most is no longer about the spam debate, it’s about “smelly” behaviour that cannot be justified.

I always try to see all sides of a debate and find reasons, but core has contradicted itself more than once and I really fail to see how they can be justified (for example like in the below contradiction):

- Core: “filtering spam is not acceptable as censorship is not acceptable and not the solution, and if you don’t like what we are doing just run another btc software implementation”

-Plebs: “ok got it, then I’ll run Knots”

- Core: Bans Knots nodes

I'm in the camp where filters do work. And as a node runner I want to control what gets into my mempool. It is unacceptable that future versions of Bitcoin Core will restrict this option. Feel free to convince me, that it is a progress for Bitcoin as a monetary network, when the power of the node runners is reduced.

It’s likely gonna be more sinister than that, with so many people finding a digital companion in LLMs. It’s like marketing on steroids, where a few suggestions, repetition and seemingly “logical” reasoning from the “digital friend” will convince majority of the users to trust it.

The person isnt' thick, but when you say "sats" are like the pennies of Bitcoin. Then they ask why call them sats, and you mention satoshi, and Next thing it's a swamp of info. Bits and Bitcoin now makes more sense.
