The transaction fees are nothing when you sell each inscription at 1+ BTC. And even if, that doesn't matter. People will either find a way to make money off spam, or make spam because they want to destroy Bitcoin, not only through destroying its reputation, but through making a node impossible to run and in turn, creating centralization.

You are listening to the wrong people but telling you that is not going to deter you from this mistaken view you have adopted. Running Knots and having node options is good, but this argument about spam killing bitcoin is FUD and now I see people threatening to call Elizabeth Warren if Core doesn't do as you people want. This is the sort of group you are aligning with. Good grief 🤦
So, your entire argument is "spam killing bitcoin is FUD", with no logical explanation? Do you even run a node? Do you know how huge the Bitcoin blockchain is? Would you really rather take up your disk space that you paid for with CP and inscription doodles rather than regular transactions that people like you and me are trying to make?
Yup, I run a node have done for years and soon will need to get a larger ssd. You could run a pruned node if you are concerned about the size of the blockchain
Running a pruned node makes it harder to use with wallets like sparrow or running an electrum server. If the blockchain becomes too bloated, people will give up and start using public nodes and block explorers instead. The only nodes running will be by corporations. And SPV doesn't fix this. When you can't fully verify all transactions, all the running nodes could simply put an invalid transaction in the blockchain, and SPV nodes will believe it if enough PoW is provided. This will create coins out of thin air. Of course, this won't happen anytime soon even with inscriptions, but corruption will eventually make Bitcoin Core increase the block size and will try to turn Bitcoin into a shitcoin like Solana.
Even without "spam" how large do you think the blockchain will be in 10 or 20 years? Potentially billions of people will be using bitcoin at that point, it will be huge compared to what we have now. What happens then? Roughly 2-4% of the blockchain has some kind of media/images on it today. Are people going to run nodes if the blockchain is 25TB (without images) or will they say it's too big? You have zero evidence of Core corruption, that's just fake news being spread by people trying to fool you.
Even if 2-4% would be spam (which I think it will be much higher), simply switching to knots (or reverting the filters to how they have been working fine for the last decade) will help have less spam on the chain, even if it is 2-4%. And who would "fool me" into this, and what incentive would they have?
Why would it be higher? Why isn't it higher now while the fees are so low? Remember, once a billion or more people are using bitcoin the fees will increase significanly and putting images on will become extremely expensive.
Fooling/decieving others into believing Core is compromised (with no evidence whatsoever & mostly to new bitcoiners) in order to get them to use Knots instead. Knots is ok to use but the accusations and lies are a disgrace.
Btw Knots doesn't stop (or even reduce) spam for being recorded onto the blockchain. You know that, right?
