Ha, yeah I guess I didn't mention that I have Umbrel running on a Pi but I want something more robust, Umbrel is not very good imo. Anyway I'll probably use an Ubuntu server. I'm an Arch user but figure Ubuntu might be a better choice for a server.

Do you have any recommendations on an OS as a server to self-host & use as a full btc node? I have an Optiplex to use and was thinking of Server 9 but I don't have ethernet access to the router, wifi only & Server 9 is not suitable for wifi. I'm a Linux user so not afraid to use that, I've just never installed or used a server before.

Simply Bitcoin is painful with their constant "bitcoin is about to EXPLODEβ€œ clickbait titles and their sponsor ads as if they are part of the show. It's a shame Dante Cook ended up there he should start his own show/business.

Ha! Forbes really is useless. I have them blocked on my Google search results.

Best comic strip ever!

Well Luke should write his own software, all he does is take Core and add some patches. Kratter has on several occassions encouraged his followers to stop donating to OpenSats (Odells opensource/bitcoin developers fund) if they continue to fund Core. Kratter is a dickhead and leading people astray. He reminds me Roger Ver back in 2017.

That's true and you can go ahead and continue to believe this is a crisis & wonder why people such as Odell aren't as concerned about it if you want. Odell, Saylor, Lyn Alden for example are not concerned and Lyn has talked about it quite a lot saying it's overblown. If you want to believe it's an existential crisis that's up to you, makes no difference to the rest of us

Qe can both fully trust Matthew, but that doesn't mean he is right.

Thing is it isn't an existential priority which is why Matt has talked about it but not incessently. Of course if you follow somebody like Matthew Kratter you will believe that it is priority #1 but you would be wise to stop listening to him. Btw, have you asked Saylor what his thoughts on it are? He hasn't said anything on it as far as I know. I wonder why πŸ€”

He probably bought a big pile of Litecoin at the lows and is back to pump it up so he can sell at the top again. At least he never turned on bitcoin like Roger Ver did.

Oh hey Lawrence! You are very welcome, it's a great read so far & written in a way that a non-financial pleb like me can understand. Cheers! πŸ‘

I imagine many of the Core developers don't agree with the banning but unless I'm mistaken Knots has just one developer and that's Luke and Luke has very strong (& some extremely odd) opinions. I've had a back & forth with him on Twitter some years ago (not about bitcoin) and he was willing to engage & he didn't get in a huff & block me so that's good but a one man development team might be viewed as an autocracy. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I don't agree with it but that's the thing, the way the issue has been handled by Core is worse than the issue itself. However Bitcoin Mechanic was stirring up stuff two years ago and is coming across as a bit of a drama queen. He shouldn't have been banned though.

I don't doubt his sincerity but he is blowing this way out of proportion and not doing his viewers favours by encouraging them to go over to Knots without giving them any history on Luke or problems with Knots. It's also extremely bad form to encourage people to stop donating to OpenSats and HRF (two excellent organizations) as he did earlier this week.

That's ridiculous. Stop listening to people like Matthew who are being hysterical & haven't been around bitclin long enough. He's blowing this way out of proprtion to all his viewers who are mostly newer to bitcoin than he is.

He was asking about Christianity a few months ago on here (maybe 6 months ago). He wasn't a believer but was curious about people's belief in the bible. I've seen other bitcoiners become religious in the past couple of years. They are all anti-seed oil, canivore diet advocates too. Some people just follow others.
