My daughter found this 26 cm long feather while having a walk on a mountain area located in north of Spain. She's curious (now me too) about which bird it belongs to.

Most easily seen big birds here are kites and kestrels but there's a wide variety of raptors around this area so it could be anything.

Would be grateful for any ID help ๐Ÿ˜Š

Do you have raptors? Reminds me of a hawk feather.

Yep all kind of raptors. Thnx I will do some research about hawk feathers

This is a Western marsh harrier (Circus aeruginosus)

Depending on the time of year, raptors have different color phases.

Nice bird ๐Ÿ˜

After some research on www.featherbase.info (I didn't know about this site yesterday) seems to fit buzzard (buteo buteo) and red kite (milvus milvus) feathers description, pattern and size.

Milvus milvus (red kite)

Buzzard (buteo buteo)

Both look very similar. There's a slight difference on the stripes width.

Thank you both for the help ๐Ÿงก

Great info there.

Now I can see them side by side, it looks more like a red kite than a buzzard.

Yep, that slight difference on the stripe's width... I vote for red kite too

Search owls and buzzards also, I noticed some light variations in both.

Seems to be too big for a hawk

Turkey.

There are no wild turkeys on this part of the world but thnx anyway :)

This website claims Spain has turkeys:
