I know this doesn’t seem like it’ll do anything, and it might seem like a worthless action, but I don’t have any powers, this is all I can do. If you can take a moment to read about what’s going on, thank you. #[0]

Definitely agree that largely untouched parts of the wilderness should remain untouched but I think the bigger picture is more important to look at. If this is shut down the oil will just be drilled for somewhere else in the world, so we would just be moving the environmental impact from Alaska to somewhere else, likely the ocean or a developing nation. Drilling in the US has two major benefits: (1) Energy independence, which we’ve found out (thanks to Russia) is extremely important to have for price stability among other things; and (2) the US has much stricter environmental regulations surrounding oil drilling than other countries, so if this project is shut down, it’s likely that ConocoPhillips would just go out of country and make an even worse environmental impact.

Additionally, there are compromise discussions going on such that if this is approved, there would be a ban on drilling in the Arctic of the cost of Alaska and there would be greater protections for other habitats throughout Alaska.

A good article and thanks for sharing! I have learned to be skeptical of any projected data that suggests a doomed future ahead, but I agree that we need to protect nature and be one with nature. I am not convinced that the battery agenda is the right way, but I do think that we are living in times where your generation has the right directional attitude. I hope that someday we can strike a good balance by scaling sources of energy such as nuclear and geothermal, while simplifying our lifestyle demands around materialistic things. Bitcoin is at the core of this type of vision becoming a reality. 🤞🧡

I agree with everything you said Seth, thank you for reading and taking the time to write this.

I also agree with you on the doom data point, there’s so much more we can think about and do when we’re not in a “doomed” mindset.

when will the authorities realise , there’s no Planet B. We need system change & not climate change.
