LMAO all these idiots are saying 'try a different USB cable'.

Hardware wallets are a shitty idea if you want to store your Bitcoin for more than 5 years.

Nothing beats a private key engraved on a piece of metal.

You can import it into any wallet app and spend your coin.

Anybody using a hardware wallet without a metal seed backup is gonna have a bad time

hardware wallets dont actually store bitcoin, they're used to generate keys/sign, right?

or is there a difference between hhw's and signers im not aware of perhaps?

The problem is trusting the device to maintain your keys and not backing them up. No matter what device you use, you need an offline, physical backup of your keys.

aah got it, thanks for explaining

I generate keys on an air-gapped computer that I later engrave onto metal plates.

I keep mine inside metal cylinders in two different fireproof safes. Can't get myself to pay $50+ for a metal plate. It's crazy how predatory the crypto community is.
