I was comparing it with the religious alternatives. Islam's days are clearly numbered and will freefall when the oil runs out. Hinduism and Buddhism are pagan garbage and also in decline. The rest aren't even a blip on radar.

Are most human beings effectively atheist? Yes, but that's been true for all of human history.

I wouldn’t count out Islam. It could easily spread in the West if a serious hard traditionalist movement broke out.

Islam is a simple religion for simple people. Simple rules, simple prayers, simple unitarian God. The only thing that’s difficult is you pretty much have to learn Arabic.
