My favorite Russian holiday is upon us!

MASLENITSA (Butter Week)! Also known as pancake or crepe week it is a Slavic pagan holiday actually approved by the almighty Orthodox Church (/s).

This week we welcome back Spring (although the weather is not cooperating) and we eat pancakes because they look like the sun (and flour is basically the only thing that was left over at the end of winter).

A straw effigy is burnt on Sunday (yes, Burning Man, we did do it first). It is also forgiveness day where you and your loved ones... forgive each other for past wrongs.

I know many of you are on carnivore diets, but if you were going to break it for some pancake+butter goodness, this is the week!

Happy Maslenitsa!

The event we went on the forest near teply stan was certainly epic! Drove to a place near mkad. Dropped the car. Walked 20 mins with sankis and 2 kiddos, arrived to set of many campsites with food cooked in the castor ((super rustic)) and in order to get food you had to obtain some "coins" by making some small quests like bow & arrow / climbing a tree / etc... Then that could be exchanged for food.

But it was very rustic, zero bulshit and all real people! This week has been the "reconnecting with real people" week for me. Im suddenly full of hope.

About kaimanchik... Yes its an amazing place. Im super happy my wife found it!

Today is butter day on nostr
