Ketosis is a metabolic state, not a diet
Discussion
At the end of the day it has been, and always will be, about beta hydroxybutalate
Try this "a balanced diet is better for you than just meat or just veg."
I would get so bored if I only had one or the other. I have tried both lol
Exactly
Yeah I feel that.
I feel like ketosis is good for surviving but not so great for thriving.
At the moment I'm going in & out of ketosis each week.
In ketosis my appetite is suppressed to the point where I have to almost force myself to eat. Too many days like that & I feel like I'm shrivelling up like a prune. It's like I can't seem to retain moisture.
My covid chub is starting to melt off & I'm slowly regaining my muscle. I'm only 4 weeks in so it's still early & hasn't become tiresome yet.
I think metabolic flexibility and feeling good are the goals. I am quite lenient with keto. Rarely do I aim for 20-30g total carbs, I usually go for 30-50g net carbs. Enough to where I feel very satisfied with what I am eating, but when I sleep or fast for short periods, I dip into ketosis. In this way, I do feel like I thrive in keto, but I still get sick of it haha and forget about it for a bit or longer than a bit lol and eat whatever. Right now, I have international move to the land of cheese and chocolate and poffertjes chub lol
Yeah I like the idea of metabolic flexibility. To fast if there is no good food to eat or indulge in a sweet treat from my garden as it periodically presents itself.
I'm actively avoiding swamping though which is consuming high fat & carbohydrate together. No lasagne for me right now 🤣
It's said that moderation is far harder than abstinence. Nevertheless I'm seeking moderation & all the mind games that come with that.

I have never heard of swamping but makes sense. I am avoiding sugar and bread and eating leniently keto, meaning higher net carbs.
Moderation is definitely more difficult...post-it notes help lol I don't succeed everyday, and I definitely don't worry about the days I don't 80/20 ftw
I think of fasting as the body's deep clean cycle. There is a reason every major religion has a fasting ritual. It brings us closer to God, however you view that concept.
