Israel is the only state in the world where Jews can be a majority. They do not have the luxury to "let things unfold" and see what happens. As a consequence, as unfair as it is, demilitarization has to be unilateral on the Arabs' part, and only then should Israel even consider it. In the meantime, anything Israel does can and should be construed as consolidation, in case they ever truly have to give in and make concessions.
