If bandwidth is the issue #mastodon is probably the best choice. No ads and just have to talk with one server.

Clients like Tusky can request just the 10 most recent messages.

#nostr sends and receives redundant messages to and from 10 servers.

Efficient or decentralized. Choose wisely

For sake and lord i could try to fork the NIP-01 and change JUST A VERY LITTLE BIT OF THING to make it atleast efficient as possible.
