Yes, they received benefits from communism, but the entire Soviet "machine" was working for those benefits. Ненавижу, когда российские журналисты используют слово «Кубань», потому что никогда не понимаешь, подразумевают ли они Краснодарский край (а чаще всего так оно и есть), Краснодарский край и Адыгею (такое тоже бывает) или реально Кубань (это редкость). То есть вот это вот — без Сочи, с фрагментом Ставропольского края и Ростовской области.
Сам я использую это слово только для обозначения второго случая, просто потому что говорить «Краснодарский край и республика Адыгея» долго.
