I never have the patience to let my skin absorb the lotion before I wash my hands.

I feel you, I have a hand washing problem πŸ«‚ I think it’s OCD or something cos when I get stressed it gets worse. Shea butter on them over night is magic for things like this πŸ™πŸ½ πŸ«‚πŸ«‚ (just incase your hands look scary like mine did - cracked/bleeding etc.)

When I was a kid it was a lot worse. My hands would bleed but now it’s a lot better. I try to purposely not wash my hands and just embrace germs πŸ˜‚

Thank you for sharing with me πŸ«‚ you have no idea how much better you’ve made me feel. I’ve felt kinda alone with this (though I know lots of other people have this issue too). It just feels nice knowing someone else I kinda know has had to deal with it and is doing good πŸ™πŸ½ but I’m also so sorry you ever had to, especially as a kid πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚ it’s a frustrating thing for sure. I like your solution 🀣 been thinking about it, but I don’t think I’m quite there yet πŸ«‚

It’s more common than you think. In school they scare you with those videos that use a special light to show you where germs are. There was one kid in my class whose hands were so bad that everyone made fun of him and called him ashy. I feel bad about that now lol but yeah I think it’s from the harsh chemicals in the soap and the hot water. I came across this lady while shopping once that tried to sell me this special lotion. She put the lotion on my skin so she can show me how much nicer it’ll look after. She kept rubbing it and these bubbles started coming out. She was like wtf I’ve never seen this before you, do you wash your hands a lot? Lmao I realized that absorbing soap isn’t better for me than having some germs on my skin.

Aw man, why do they do that to the kids πŸ˜πŸ«‚

Aw bless him πŸ₯Ή I’ve been there. One time I washed my hands so much before work they looked white cos they were caked in soap residue. I moisturised like crazy that morning but still no luck. I was running late so I had to just deal but of course the tube was so packed that morning (bloody northern line) and I had to hold onto a pole surrounded by people. A guy was just staring at my hands and I was mortified 😭 I wanted to tell him it was from soap, and that I moisturised I swear, but then everyone would look. I laugh about it now though πŸ˜‚πŸ«‚

I use tallow soap now ❀️‍πŸ”₯ someone on nostr told me about it once.

πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ matteeee πŸ™ˆπŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚ not the suds. Honestly, I think you right. Now instead of needlessly washing my hands when stressed I’ll punch something (pillow, not person), draw, walk or write. Lost some weight from the walking, silver lining

I just sit in front of the fan on full blast to dry

I heard those hand dryer fans in restrooms are full of germs too πŸ˜‚

Yeah I don’t use those πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ«‚ if I have to, I stand so far away

The question is, what do you do when there are no paper towels and no blow dryer. Do you wipe your hands on your pants or just walk out with wet hands πŸ˜‚

Walk out with wet hands πŸ˜‚πŸ’―πŸ«‚ I wave em about to dry them. I might dry them a liiiiitle bit on my jeans - if I’m wearing a dress/skirt then I won’t - I’d rather air dry. You?

I wave them too and will pat them on my pants a little lol

Not a bad idea πŸ«‚

Might I suggests in-shower lotion πŸ€— https://www.bestproducts.com/beauty/g286/in-shower-body-lotions/

Mattteeeee I am intrigued πŸ‘€β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯ will have a look into this on the morrow πŸ«‚

I use the excuse that my moisturizer needs to soak in so I can stay in my bathrobe longer.

This reminds me of Ed Sheerans marinating ritual πŸ˜‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ«‚πŸ’œ I’ll try and find the video and send in the chat πŸ«‚

I just allow pieces of my skin to flake off as they please. MoisturiserπŸ€”??

You're supposed to wait? πŸ‘€

You don’t have to, personal preference I think. I think it’s no good if your moisturiser has wiped off onto your sheets and T-shirt before it’s absorbed πŸ₯Ή also feels a bit grim when my tshirt sticks to me πŸ«‚

Huh

Ok

I... Guess I. Don't have that issue on the rare occasions that I do grease up... πŸ˜…

That’s a good thing πŸ™πŸ½πŸ˜πŸ«‚

Maybe I shouldn't offer to hug you. I'm not baby smooth 24/7...πŸ˜…

I’m rather particular about my skin care routine, but I never expect my frens to be πŸ«‚ all personal choice πŸ™πŸ½

That's kind of you. ❀️ πŸ«‚

Funny story, since we're on the subject of lotion: I never used to put any on. For some reason, I thought using lotion was kind of weird.

In the winter, my shins would get super itchy all the time, and it drove me crazy!

Then one day, I stumbled upon this Bill Burr stand-up bit, and it blew my mind: https://youtu.be/RiH-_ZUILk0?si=8m6moJ97BTGo6BVu

I've been using lotion ever since, and just like that, all the itching disappeared!

πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ«‚πŸ’―

As a brown women, can confirm i can’t be going out with dry elbows, feet, knees, nothing. It would be so obvious 🀣 not a cute look for me.

You identify as plural? 🫒

Woman* πŸ€£πŸ˜πŸ«‚ dammit I swear, nostr catches everything

Try drinking more water too
