The profound feeling of realizing that everyone, including strangers passing in the street, has a life as complex as one's own, which they are constantly living despite one's personal lack of awareness of it.
I think about this a lot. The amount of information contained in the world is unfathomable. We only see slivers of it.
I think about this often.
It’s remarkable how easy we all forget that.
Try being a radiologist. There are people all around you who are 1) dying and they know it or 2) dying and they don’t know it, or 3) not dying and they are just hoping all is well.
The brilliance & beauty of humanity lie in our capacity for creativity, empathy, & innovation 💥 It is up to each one of us to distinguish what we do with our time.
If only all was known or at least accessible for everyone got to start somewhere…
This blows my mind. I’ve been thinking something similar recently. I don’t know if it’s bc we have “simulated lives” (on social media) and I’ve suddenly become aware of the complex (difficult) actual (in the flesh) lives that other people (that I don’t know) are living or what explains the recent awareness of this but I think it’s something that we should strive to be aware of every day. It’s almost like we need to hear someone tell us (in person) a problem that they’re having every day so we don’t lose touch with our own humanity.
On the first day of a Computer Ethics course I took in college this message resonated with me:
“There’s no way to prove your consciousness exists outside of your own” 🤯

I often have the experience when walking down the road and looking around and suddenly realizing I am 100% living in my own movie, and everyone I see around me is doing the same, such a trip every single time! 😂
