Did you say thread will allow connection to Nostr?
Threads is launching in the EU today. https://www.theverge.com/2023/12/8/23993595/threads-meta-eu-europe-launch-date
They are also one step closer to full ActivityPub support and joining the fediverse, and through mostr.pub connecting to nostr.

Nostr is part of the fediverse through nostr:npub108pv4cg5ag52nq082kd5leu9ffrn2gdg6g4xdwatn73y36uzplmq9uyev6’s mostr.pub and upcoming ditto gateways. So when Threads supports ActivityPub then we’ll get to be able to follow and reply to Threads users via the gateways. They’ll see nostr posts eventually and vice versa. Replies and conversations should flow back and forth.
Wow 😳 this is absolutely interesting. Gradually #nostr will reach many users. Thank you for your explanation.
You can follow any fediverse/mastodon user in nostr by simply putting username_at_mastodon.server@mostr.pub where you’d normally put an npub or nip-05 username. In nostr:npub1pu3vqm4vzqpxsnhuc684dp2qaq6z69sf65yte4p39spcucv5lzmqswtfch, if you put in a fediverse username it knows to look for that user via the nostr bridge at mostr.pub. I hope other nostr clients add support for this as it’ll open up so you can engage with the fediverse without giving up control over your identity and privacy.
Thanks. Bookmarked!
Can't Threads just block the Mostr instance thus cutting off Nostr users? Does Ditto prevent this?
nostr:npub1rqlwyvfshkj2778cc0lv46geppfhgxc73uqfcc0zpz3gy5d07uasj6c9tx Yes, that’s the vulnerability of mostr at the moment. There are currently about 300 instances of fediverse servers that block mostr.pub but most of those are small.
Ditto tries to get around this by providing a server for one or a group of people to bridge rather than one large bridge.
Very interesting, didn't know that about Ditto. I imagine there's a reasonable cost to spinning instances to each person or groups though? I wonder who would pay for such, maybe Nos.social and other Nostr clients as restricted topical relays (bitcoin/crypto-free) to the outside as a feature?
