What I always liked about twitter was that it was never one place. You had all these sub-communities, yes, but the open nature of it allowed for wild interactions and the breaking of bubbles.
Discussion
It was public square, dive bar, office water cooler, nightclub, and philosophy department all rolled into one. And you never knew who you were dealing with, and when those various "places" would interact.
My approach to twitter was always to never take things too seriously, and that's my approach for #nostr still. There is wisdom to "it's just a tweet bro" and I still believe that the secret to life is to send it, whether it be note, tweet, or in general.
Because you never know who you're dealing with, a great strategy is to assume that the other person is fourteen, or drunk, or really high, or senile, or all of the above. You wouldn't be mad if a stoned 14yr old would say something stupid to your face, so why be mad online?
I hope that we can rebuild what twitter used to be and what it was supposed to be, and transcend it. I believe that we're halfway there already. Given enough time and attention, I'm confident that we'll manage to build what so many on #nostr dream and hope for.
Zaps are already transcendent in that sense. As are cryptographic identities. Putting the user in control (as opposed to platforms) will be key to all of it, and I'm beyond excited to what is coming down the line with DVMs and even more exotic things.
The responsibility is on us to build it right, and to educate users as well as encourage them to take matters in their own hands. Nothing in life is free, not even freedom. We'll have to fight for it, and we'll have to take responsibility for ourselves and our actions.
Much needs to be built, much education needs to be done, much rektucation still needs to happen. But I remain optimistic, because the building blocks are there. Bitcoin works. Lightning works. Nostr works. Not perfectly, but it works.
I can't wait to see where we'll be in 5 years from now. It's wild to see where we are already. This is happening, and it's all happening because of you guys: focusing on the good that freedom tech can bring, pouring your time, money, effort, and attention into it.
I'm very grateful for that and to be part of it all. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the future is bright, we just have a lot of building to do.
I’ve largely stopped trying to education adults about Bitcoin, unless they come to me.
Now I spend my time teaching teenagers about Nostr and getting them hooked on zaps. I believe it is the most important, healthiest, addiction they can get online. Kind of like getting addicted to fresh air and bushwalking.
Nostr is the fresh air of social media. The lack of algorithms stop it from becoming stale, toxic and putrid.
Doing my tiny part at redpilling normies! Proud to be a part of a team.
It is so good what happened here.
I was absent for a couple of months. And I've seen, not massive growth, meaningful growth.
I've been on and off the Bitcoin world and it's the same.
Just essential things that needed to happen, just the evolution of the healthiest of our creations. A collective garden cared among neighbours, friends and lovers.
And what appeared in Bitcoin land is surprisingly natural and consequent and coherent with the resonance of it . Just like plants and flowers when a garden is taking water, sun and richness into the soil. Surprising, yes, perfectly timed for spring, yes. Freezing in winters, yes.
And when a flower like LN or Nostr appears one can only say "Of course this was going to flower, of course!"
It was needed, it was wanted it was planted.
And then the flowers give fruits and then seeds again. And in those we find eachother being able to be fruitful and seeds ourselves.
Because people translating, people coding, people shitposting, people memeing, people philosophishing. We all follow excitement and purpose in a healthy whay. Dharma
We hang out in the garden finding our own art. Nodding and thinking "of course!" "Yes of course you were going to flower like that in this set and setting" "of course you were going to become a clown here" or "of course what you say makes sense in this particular state of consciousness and not back there in fiat world"
Like you see a toddler grow and you are gone for two weeks and you come back and it's 10cm higher and talks.
And it just begins.
How awesome is it.
How marvelous
I'm here to break other bubbles, i'm defending my own
And it’s much better now, under Musk’s regime.

I can tell you from the perspective of a user that has nothing to do with NOSTR development.
Twitter never caught me like i am falling upwards the NOSTR rabbit hole now.
Have a blessed Day
Mateusz
What has you so excited? Curious
Nostr feels like the ‘X’ after party
Good Mornig nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc
think you know it cannot be one factor or a simple answer to your question.
Think that the NOSTR rabbit hole is a good mix of some things.
If i had to phrase it down, I would say
NOSTR feels like the Internet anno 2000
But here my thoughts on this for you.
For me personally, I came to NOSTR to discuss about bitcoin, economy, strategy, analysis and energy and do some thought experiments. Thats somehow my background i have expertise or, this is what i get fiat for.
But sharing some of my thoughts was always bounded to the risk of our social scoring system in Germany. I don't think we're better that the chineese. It is just more subtile.
And what does a strategist do in such an environment?
Keeping theese thoughts for myself.
So for now i like beeing anonymous. I like the idea that i can identify myself in real life and make people know me personally when i meet them some day. So looking forward to meet you one day and link my profile here to a real life experience.
Next factor are the social media plattforms out there. For me it doesn't matter if it is FB or Twitter or X or something els. I always feel betrated.
I am their product
They decide what is right to say
They decide whose voice has value and rank it up
I could go on with this forever but you know what i mean. Even on Twitter i never had the feeling that my voice is equal to the rest. What is theese logerythms then?
It is a modern chest system or some kind of feudal system.
So again i dont share my voice there. Why should i?
NOSTR for now feels different and i hope it will stay this way. But we have the algo topics here as well.
So you see, it is not just about the zaps.
But of course zaps are fascinating as well. Seeing the Lightning network in its bright light is fun. makes me sometimes having more fun with zaps than to work on my thought experiments or to share my analysis.
But hey
carzy times in wild west NOSTR
All in all i think NOSTR will be great
My strategic analysis on it so far is very bullish.
Maybe i'll find the time to share it here one day.
But now i need to go and Zap some people. Need to keep my word to them.
Grateful for your question
I really love good questions
Mateusz
Sry for typos
that is something we have to live with on NOSTR i guess.
Gracias?
