We take alot for granted without a doubt. Today was one of those reminders again.

My brother in law is a linemen so I was giving him shit all day, but those guys actually killed it and got almost everyone back up.

Yeah when you hesitate is when you make mistakes, and in that field mistakes are deadly.

Yessir. I had to take a continuing education class every year and they showed us a video of a guy who was testing voltage on what he thought was aroun 1200v. Unfortunately, it was almost double that and his test tester created an arc which lit him on fire. He passed away from his injuries.

Linemen are a certain breed of their own, it’s a very specialized field. There’s no second chances when you’re dealing with that kind of voltage. You definitely have to respect it and always pay attention. I got lit up by a 277 circuit one time because I grounded myself on the ceiling grid when I was checking some exposed wires in a 2x4 drop in light. That was no fun. Always have to be aware of your surroundings. I have nothing but respect for that field and those that work in it.
