This is why I'm skeptical of hardware signing devices with permanently installed batteries. Just pulled a Ledger Flex out of storage (in optimal cool & dry conditions) and the battery has swollen and burst out of the back panel. Device still works but only when plugged in.

i agree — maybe something with nfc could be a better solution

something like https://twenty-two.xyz/ (no affiliation, never used)

Sorry to hear mate! But that’s a major concern of mine as well and one, I believe, too few people (both on the consumer and the producer side) pay enough attention to.

Agreed.

I've seen this with phones many times. I wonder if it would be better to build it intentionally to only power on when plugged in, leaving out the need for a battery. Less convenient, but also less to go wrong.

Ledger? Ew, that’s disgusting

hey -- we want to send you a test zap, but couldn’t find a NIP-05 or ⚡ lightning address on your profile. u can set one up for free on rizful https://rizful.com ... then pls reply here and we will do a test zap.

I don't think it even matters WHAT device it is, permanent batteries were a mistake.

I wish phones had replaceable batteries again

the best signers are the very first trezor

Can the battery be replaced?
