Time for a spicy take:

Visual studio is barely slower than visual studio code or CLion and provides an infinitely better experience

Well, that was a let down.

You’d be surprised how many people that’ll make rage in certain circles

I bet, knowing you 🤙. I was hoping I would understand it 😂.

Visual Studio is superior

💯 honestly, it may be the best IDE I’ve ever. Running 2022 preview right now. The cmake integration is wonderful. Debugging is wonderful. I love it.

Zed >> everything else

Oh shoot are they blocking TOR?

Imma have a right moan at em if they are

Looks the same on my end. 🤷

Doing some research, it looks like it was created by the authors of Atom. A minimalist editor. (No tabs, no file tree)

Why not use NeoVim or eMacs? Why do all these tiny editors that add almost no value keep cropping up? It’s not an IDE. It’s an editor.

Zed has tabs and file tree and IMO has great value as an editor, even if it’s not a full IDE. Most of the tools I work with are CLI based anyway, so I don’t mind using the arrow key and enter to run instead of clicking a button

That’s about as spicy as white bread.

Bro, the amount of hate that software gets in my circles. I don’t even get it.

It’s not fabulous and has a few quarks, but it has the most mindshare over a long time period. It’s standard for a reason, shit just works

The 2022 version also focused on performance. It was getting pretty slow before that.

Powershell IDE is better than VS Code.

Plug-ins. Plug-ins everywhere might as well run neovim you’re gonna have to configure and install that much

I never gave it a try. Either I had bugged installs, or ended up being mislead into downloading 4GB of crap or just straight up couldn't find the very things I needed...

I do know that it is solid and very powerful, though. o.o

If you ever want to attempt it again, let me know. I might be able to help you get the stuff you use set up.

You’re not going to get off with just 4GB anymore though. My install was ~55GB.
