I’m at the splash pad & park and there’s not one mom here with their kids. There’s two grandma’s and me (an auntie) enjoying these sweet moments; the moments and time that their mom’s (& dad’s) are missing out on. Stay at home moms should be normalized. Luckily these children are out in the fresh air and at a park enjoying the sunshine and not inside at a day care waiting to be picked up. I understand we live in a time where it’s expensive to live let alone raise a family however it’s just hitting me in the feels that this is the sad reality of so many.

my friend put her job on pause while the kids were too young to go to school on their own. she saved money by buying large pieces of meat and butchering it herself, growing vegetables, canning and all that like my mother and grandmother did. she also taught her kids all these skills.

i think it is doable with some willpower and ingenuity. back in the day people had less money to spend than we do now despite what the media says.

in the 1970s we had canned and powdered milk for when we ran out, etc. to make the groceries stretch because the entire paycheque went to mortgage and food and clothes.

it makes me sad when people sh!t on stay at home parents whether it's a man or a woman.

I commend your friend!! While it’s hard to raise a family these days with the price of food, houses, activities and literally all the things, it’s also hard for children to grow up in these circumstances without their parents. It comes down to choosing your hard. There’s many ways to stretch a dollar. Some of those ways can be time consuming as well. Pairing time management with a budget and making wise decisions leads to better outcomes. I’m a huge fan of the old fashioned ways which should have never left to be now named “old fashioned.” I’d much prefer my future children to learn the ways to become self-sovereign than have them hyped up on sugar and entertained by screens.
