Israel's total blockade and siege on Gaza, illegal under international law, caused the city's only power plant to stop working as the fuel needed to generate electricity ran out. The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned that hospitals in Gaza are turning into "graveyards." Israel's Energy Minister said that no essential resources such as electricity, fuel, or humanitarian aid will be allowed into Gaza.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in the region on Thursday morning to meet Israeli officials as Washington continues to offer unwavering support to Israel. A White House official corrected US President Joe Biden, saying he had seen "confirmed images" of "beheading children." The White House said it had no confirmed images.
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has said that Israel has asked Berlin for ammunition for its ships, while German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has confirmed that his country will end all development aid to Palestine pending a review. Jordan has vowed to send medical aid to Palestinians, while Israel warned to send trucks to Gaza. Iran and Syria have called for unity with Palestine.
