#asknostr My cousin lives in the UK and has come around to #bitcoin. I’m trying to set her up on a DCA-> Cold storage -> Hodl pathway but I’m super unfamiliar with the UK. I told her to watch WBD but I don’t want to just push podcasts and books off on her.

Are there any diamond handed #bitcoin only folks in the UK who’d be willing to suggest some resources I could send her way that’ll help her learn about bitcoin as well as get started?

Buy her a something with #bitcoin in the circular economy.

I’m starting to think normies don’t wanna do the 1,000 hours of podcasts (like we did)

Maybe the best way is to get her on Nostr

She’s very interested but doesn’t have much time for socials in general. She’s working really hard atm to be able to help our family in Nigeria… another reason why it’s important for her to bitcoin.

Strike is available in the UK now. Give her your referral code. No fee DCA and free withdrawals to cold storage. 🫡

I would also suggest Strike. Start there and have your friend do research about cold storage. Then get the wallet once understood how to set it up.

There’s no getting around making a significant time investment if you want to be your own bank. And it never stops.

Ben is the best!

Coin Corner(I think) is a UK based podcast.

This could be useful if your cousin can get to London:

Yes I’m in the UK, but currently in St. Maarten.

You’re welcome to suggest my book, details in my header.

It isn’t specifically focused on the UK, but might be of some help.

The UK is getting quite aggressive on KYC Bitcoin purchasing and self custody, but there are some easy supported routes for newbies.

Revolut bank have an easy Bitcoin purchasing option, they also allow you to spend BTC converting it on the fly to fiat. They also, more importantly allow you to withdraw your BTC to self custody.

Other options in the UK are the Isle of Man exchange CoinCorner (the Isle of Man is a UK tax haven). They are a bit heavy handed in their KYC, but pretty good.

For serious purchasing I use SwissBorg who allow much higher limits. They are a broker and hunt the market for the best price, like an arbitrage service.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, or feel free to get in touch. My non NOSTR contact details can be found on my website listed in my profile header.
