Just a mere few months ago, I was talking to some people about how Peter Zeihan does a good job explaining what a post-American multipolar world would look like, but I couldn’t fathom that the Americans would willingly dismantle the post WW2 trade order they established that kept them so dominant. I knew American power was declining, but I didn’t expect the American government to accelerate their own decline.

Now that Trumps in office and doing exactly what Zeihan described, turning more isolationist and waging trade wars on allie, I think it is inevitable that we see an end to the American dominated free trade order by the end of the century.

Not a big fan of Zeihan but rolling back the post-WW2 trade order was inevitable just on global demogrphics. Isolationism and austerity as the chosen path foreward is interesting. I think crashing the economy has been the plan for a while regardless of how it would be done though.
