Percy Jackson was a fun take on the Greek and Roman gods and demigods.

I enjoy HP up through the 4th book, after that I lose interest, I've read them a few times. It was kind of a looking for a series with a bunch of books to read and I had those, he really enjoyed them so it was worth the time spent.

As a kid I also enjoyed In Search of the Castaways by Verne. I never read them again, though. I don't know if I'd enjoy it today. I used to like Verne a lot as a kid, I don't know why I stopped reading his books. I probably grew tired, since I read so many in a row.

My wife says she her good things about Redwall and also the Wingfeasher saga. But she hasn't read them herself. My wife says if you're a Christian she recommends canonpress.com

We've read one Redwall book, a friend told us about them. It was really good. Thank you for reminding me! He's watched the Wingfeather series on Angel Studios, I think we have the books. Maybe we'll do those!

I was about to recommend Redwall! Absolutely loved those books around age 10-13. If LOTR is a bit too advanced you definitely have to do The Hobbit. Written for a younger audience than LOTR
