Percy Jackson was a fun take on the Greek and Roman gods and demigods.

I enjoy HP up through the 4th book, after that I lose interest, I've read them a few times. It was kind of a looking for a series with a bunch of books to read and I had those, he really enjoyed them so it was worth the time spent.

My wife says she her good things about Redwall and also the Wingfeasher saga. But she hasn't read them herself. My wife says if you're a Christian she recommends canonpress.com

We've read one Redwall book, a friend told us about them. It was really good. Thank you for reminding me! He's watched the Wingfeather series on Angel Studios, I think we have the books. Maybe we'll do those!

I was about to recommend Redwall! Absolutely loved those books around age 10-13. If LOTR is a bit too advanced you definitely have to do The Hobbit. Written for a younger audience than LOTR
