Passed my general and extra exams in one go today! Excited to get on the HF bands. Ordered an IC-705 as my reward for passing. It should be here right around when I get my new 2x2 call sign.

Lfggg! 🥂
Congrats! Nice work on upgrading the ticket! What’s your plan for an antenna?
I’m going to start out with a portable EFHW and work QRP. Unfortunately my HOA restricts antennas so I’m going to need to figure out a stealthy long term solution for a base station.
For VHF/UHF I mounted a jpole in my attic and that works great. Not the most ideal but I may be able to do a dipole for HF up there.
Excellent! When I started on HF I did the EFHW as well. I was overwhelmingly impressed with the contacts I had with 100w and a wire! The HOA wrinkle does call for creativity, but there are countless others who have posted their workarounds on the interwebs and you might find something be helpful to you. Good luck to you! 73
The Icom IC-705 is such a great device! I own one too. Can also recommend to get an OpenSpot. This thing is a gem!
