#Plebs I come to tell you that privacy on our devices is vulnerable 🫤

I had already realized that if, for example... I talk about bicycles with someone on the street, then as if my Smartphone also listens, it begins to show me advertisements and suggestions about bicycles. I think many of us already know that smartphones now listen to us.

...But yesterday something different happened to me, more serious 😐 I was chatting with a friend on WhatsApp talking about a little-known disease, something I've never searched for on the internet, nor had I ever written... And after a while, my phone starts showing tips and YouTube videos on that topic. Which shouldn't happen, because my Youtube algorithm is pure #Bitcoin and #Technology 🤨

...In short, now they also spy on what we do with the applications. So it is no longer recommended, if not necessary, to use Linux-based or Opensource OS on our smartphones and stop using the OS that come with the manufacturer 😤

PRIVACY IS NOT AN OPTION!!!

Get a pixel 5 or above degoogle it and install grapheneOS.. theyvwill never track you.

The hardware is unknown so there's a possibility of tracking. A mobile has 2 systems running independently but connected, the "smart" os & the modem (4g wifi etc), the modem chip is closed source & owned by hewui, and can be tracked through triangulation.

With a pinephone, the modem can be physically switched off & battery can be removed. Mic & camera can also be physically switched off. Not so with Google phones.

This is one of the differences between the PinePhone and Librem 5. They both have hardware switches for the modem, however the modem can be removed entirely from the Librem 5. I wonder what the hardware switch in the PinePhone is disabling. Is it power? The modem module on Librem 5 adds about 5mm in depth compared to the PinePhone and has the switches on the outside. The switches on the PinePhone are under the back cover and fits with the use case of setting it and not touching it again — could even epoxy it.

The switch on the pinephone is for the power to the modem. All a bit fiddly, but it works. Cost difference is big too!

The pp's disadvantages is seems a little fragile, h/W switches under rear cover, battery life maybe 2 days on standby, camera not very good.

Advantages: price & availability, easy & inexpensive to repair. Open source modem firmware. Pp pro is more expensive. Both can have cover keyboard as extra, & can work well as desktop with adaptor.

I recently saw a video of the Pinephone. A phone with Linux Mobile, I think it's great. Even with an HDMI adapter you have a Linux PC-like Dex mode 🤤

I think I'll write to my friends in a .TXT file and then in a .zip file protected with a password that only they know and I'll send it to them via WhatsApp 😆😆

Our phones don't listen to us. They map our meta data the show ads based on individuals with the same profile as ourselves.

I cannot guarantee that all phones of all brands will listen to us. But I do guarantee that if you have a Samsung or Google Pixel Smartphone, you will be listening to it for sure.

...It's not just the metadata 😔

I even have the WhatsApp associated with a number that I do NOT have in use. I mean, it's a number only for WhatsApp since I bought a SIM only for WhatsApp. It's the most private thing I could do with that app 😅

I made the sacrifice to end all meta and Twitter with Significant followers and friends and family members and come to nostr full and no friends or family followed lmao

I agree with your take, it's safe to assume any pre installed apps and current social or communications apps are compromised. When you log in to these things they gain access to the other apps on your phone.

WhatsApp has been listening for years.

If using Android, change mic settings to use only what app open.

Better still, remove WhatsApp. It's probably the worst offender. Facebook app tracks you physically & internet, monitors mic & camera, as standard settings.

They're all at it except here, mastodon & gab (asks, not demands, for approximate location for adds, but works fine without).

I agree with you. I feel like my android device is not safe privacy wise. And not even just the phone. I'm very sure that some folks can spy on us by just using our cell number. This is really upsetting and whoever does this, government or not, is a Perverted individual.
