Planted a Bald Cypress tree for a neighbor today. My favorite part of being a landscaper is the education I can provide to each client. The "Why" of why we do things a certain way.

Got home and saw the Beauty Berry bush is loaded with some edible berries. This is such an easy native edible to grow in your landscapes.

Never tried eating beauty berries, thought they weren't great for human consumption for some reason. How do they taste?

Hopefully that's a low spot where water pools for the bald cypress- those about the only places I'll plant them now since they need so much water.

Seen so many around town high and dry that don't make it. They're the best trees for water hole rope swings and climbing IMO (and bank stabilization)

They have a mild sweetness. Not a ton of flavor. I'm going to dehydrated some this year to try and concentrate that sugar content.

I have never heard of them, what zones do they grow in? I am in zone 8B

The American variety can grow in zones 7-11. Very easy to grow.

Thank you, I am going to try to figure out where I can purchase one, now that I know they grow in my zone๐Ÿ˜Š
