Would love to see Primal caching on StartOS. In the meantime, noStrudel is quite amazing and already available. It runs a caching service and works well, even over Tor.
How great would it be to have a self hosted Nostr caching service that regularly pulls the latest Nostr notes + media from multiple relays over TOR so that your public IP address doesn’t leak to relays and your Nostr App only pulls content from your self hosted caching service. nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll would this be something that can be realized once we have more options on clearnet with start 9?
Discussion
I did not even know noStrudel did caching! Thanks for letting me know.
It does not proactively cache events but you can set it up to use the nostr relay on your start9 server as a cache
Nice, does it than basically mirror all notes you have viewed from the relays you are connected to? Does it do this in the background as well or only when a client uses the webapp?
It mirrors all the events you see. Its an alternative option to caching events in the browser storage
it replaces the web browser cache, which is limited to 10k events, it can store infinity events, and you can run any relay as you prefer, i was testing it on replicatr
the only events that stay in browser memory are the ones that are part of a current render
