Guess who REALLY likes #nostr?
Discussion
No way, is this public? Where can I find this info?
Google trends.
Oh of cours3
Even more interesting!
There's no google in China, this traffic is coming from Taiwan I guess
Maybe. Wouldnβt Google say Taiwan then?
Unless... Google considers Taiwan to be China π€―
Taiwan is China. Its official name is the Republic of China. Taiwan has literally changed hands multiple times and was ultimately taken over by the Chinese. In fact, there are indigenous people there, but very few of them remain.
The UN does, and the US does (officially), so that makes sense.
Most upperclass folks in China (and even their kids) regularly used VPNs and were able to access forbidden sites, at least while I was living there in a provincial capital city, 2018-19
The way it was explained to me is that the government simply doesnβt want the majority of people to have access to threatening information. I suppose educated, wealthier people in cities are too few in comparison to bother with.
VPN use is prevalent, itβs forbidden but they still use it
Brazil may go up in the rankings
You know Iβm not the only one
Interesting. Seeing one relay here for Beijing but assuming any relays would be better off run from overseas https://nostr.watch/relays/find
Imagine that. π§ π€
More censorship, more interest on Nostr...
But what about Iran? That's hard to talk about this one...
We will try our best.
#Iran #Nostr
It's China, but it's nothing to do with free speech, it's because they think it's a web3 thing and they can make money.
LoL yes there is one part of China where they care, it's called Hong Kong and Taiwan. Besides that, Chinese DO NOT GIVE A SHIT about "free speech". Right now they pretty much enjoying the last days of summer travelling and having fun.
