About 100 years ago Margaret Mead went to Samoa and lived with the people there. The Samoans had no adolescence. It didn't exist. When she described it they laughed at the silly weirdos who live in the USA.

Our culture created teen behavior. It is not innate.

Good point! Teen years are just formative years … and that means teens should be open to experiences

"Mead had spent ten days in a Samoan household in Pago Pago and decided that that was enough.

King is dishonest for not mentioning this. He is dishonest for not mentioning how police reports from Samoa from the time of Mead’s visit contradict many of her rosy conclusions on sexual violence. He is dishonest also for not mentioning how Mead rarely included primitive war-making or violence (sexual or otherwise) in her analyses."
