Some recent cultures (like ours) have designated them such.
It wasn't nature or biology that decided that.
"teen" is just a linguistic quirk that describes a mathematical thing. It has literally nothing to do with human development.
So your point is that calling them “teens” and thinking of them as “dependents” or kids is rubbish 🤔
