i spend a lot of time thinking about how i might help nostr succeed faster
Discussion
Thank you
What did you come up with???
i don’t have a clear direction in mind yet. been considering trying my hand at making some AI content bots to make aggregation/distillation of what’s new here might be fun, kind of an automated spiritual successor to nostr:nprofile1qqszak7w562dzerznp222fvrgk8adkt9k9s783yt2lf6luqegp2c3pqnj5rr9
also thought about a new way to do naming without a centralized issuer
i’d also like to find ways to aggregate sources that are not on nostr that would help me read everything via nostr. could spur more conversations here, imo
me too. like all the time. I believe it's soon coming into view. happy to chat sometimes if you are open... and open the field of co-emergence...
Me too. And I think i have my answer in creating a better quora/stackoverflow on top of nostr
Users/visitors dont need to know about btc/nostr/nips
The #replyaway hashtag I tried to start will be really helpful if it takes off. Just using nostr to reply to shit we can't reply to on other sites, and helping each other get replies through the walls
HNS + Nostr? Decentralized naming solution that allows you to store your Nostr NPUB as TXT record both off and onchain?
NIP05 is great but most users do not host websites, right? Attaching your npub to human readable domain/username might be a better option for most internet users.
Check out http://imtbl.dprofile.hns.to/ or imtbl.dprofile/ in browsers which support HNS (MASQ, Carbon browser, Aloha). dprofile is in beta right now but I can already attach all my socials (npub included) to one HNS domain I own without reliance on any 3rd party.
Honestly at this point, I think nostr needs a more diverse userbase to succeed. The protocol seems pretty solid, it seems like we have enough relays for the time being, and a lot of different applications have been developed.
If I want to use this as my social media, however, it's hard since most accounts I find are always posting about Bitcoin and Nostr itself. And I'm not super into cryptocurrency. Most of my following list is from the mastodon bridge or bots for that reason.
I love the protocol but if the user base doesn't change at all I may find myself back on activitypub self hosting.
