Since I haven't posted in a while, check out my pacebin fork I started. Awesome if people want an extremely lightweight pastebin to host, but they need a few more features than some curl commands.

I have a live demo up on a personal onion site, but I assume people will want a clearnet live demo instead, so that is coming soon.

Okay, I struggle to understand making this mistake once already. But now twice? I am in awe.

I think this article speaks for itself, so I won't add onto it. (No idea how reputable these people are by the way but this is still super funny.)

Pro, first-hand tip: 115V electrocuting you is not fun, BUT it can make a good replacement for caffeine.

I've noticed that I tend to just post to the #fediverse and forget about #nostr , so I'm gonna make a conscious effort to post the same content across both of the platforms now.

I wasn't even able to receive any. You were and now you can't withdraw?
So based on this email directive, Pete #Hegseth
has the governing style of "do as I say, not as I do."
Good to know!

This whole scenario has amazed me coming from an IT background. How do top-level officials make such a simple opsec mistake of letting an incorrect person join a small group chat?
And then of course, there's the matter of saying it was a "Signal" vulnerability afterwards to take the heat off of them more than likely. Yikes.

If only it were. Much headache and emotional grievance would be saved.
That is 100% true. You can't sit around and whine about it while also not taking any steps in the meantime. At that point it's just wishful thinking.
Not necessarily. But even your own country, Switzerland, has legislation requiring FOSS software exclusively to be used by government institutions. That's a huge step in the right direction.
Now imagine if we had similar legislation for consumers. I don't have an exact answer for what the solution is, but it would force companies to change and more consumers would be aware of privacy implications even if the legislation got repealed.
Why not just allow the option to filter instead of hardcoding it? You know, like every other piece of ActivityPub software already does....
They could even turn it on by default. They could allow auto blocking domains that do allow those tags. So many better ways to approach it than force it on users, even if I agree with the mission behind it.
I agree that people need to take privacy into their own hands, and I think the majority of people that care do.
BUT
I also believe that the current landscape in technology does require others to make changes, protecting privacy for others.
Two corporations, Google and Mozilla (funded mainly by Google,) control all of our modern web browser options with questionable privacy in mind. Gaming? Forget playing some of the things you may enjoy if you want to have privacy with your operating system. And smartphones are a whole other disaster in that world, leaving virtually no good option beyond Google or Apple's OS. Linux phones lack a lot of basic functionality still.
In short, we lack basic tools for privacy in many areas due to lack of legislation, and a lack of effort from large entities that should be putting in effort. Because of that, it's unreasonable to think that we can just be mindful, use certain tools, and be fine. We DO need other people to change and do some work so we have the option to be more private digitally.
Mozilla added a TOS and Privacy Policy that includes very broad language for interpretation, and very odd language for an open source browser as well.
"When you upload or input information through Firefox, you hereby grant us a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use that information to help you navigate, experience, and interact with online content as you indicate with your use of Firefox."
As well as this in their Privacy Policy:
"Mozilla collects technical and interaction data, such as the position, size, views and clicks on New Tab content or ads, to understand how people are interacting with our content and to personalize future content, including sponsored content. This data may be shared with our advertising partners on a de-identified or aggregated basis."
So in short, Mozilla collects advertising data on you as a part of the browser's new Privacy Policy and they have an extremely broad right to any data you input through Firefox. They have since released a statement essentially telling people they misinterpret it, despite many security and privacy professionals calling bullshit.

Fuck em. Glad that company is gonna learn the hard way, and anyone outside of that company that may have tried to incentivise this behavior.
Me watching Firefox become enshittified:
