All I really had to understand to be on board and trust it is that a.) it has value (unlike the dollar that’s not even backed by gold anymore, the complexities of the algorithm and the energy it takes to hit a block, to me is value) b.) there’s scarcity so unlike the dollar, they can’t print more and decrease my purchasing power, but also demand. That was literally enough for me. I see inflation as one of the biggest problems and bitcoin can (pretty obviously to even me) solve that.

Yes 🙌 The question I had to understand the answer to before I was all in on bitcoin was why were these qualities possible to achieve with Bitcoin, but not other coins. In other words, "Why couldn't there be a "next" Bitcoin?" And it wasn't enough for me that someone simply says it's true. I needed to understand the how at least enough to decide for myself that "yes bitcoin is the real deal" or "no, these people are full of shit and morons."
Yeah that part can still be confusing for me, “the why no next Bitcoin”, but with that logic, “why no next dollar” ya know? Whether or not another coin exists and is successful still doesn’t change the fact that Bitcoin holds more value than fiat. So in that way, I don’t think I even have to be sure right now. Holding bitcoin is still better than trying to preserve wealth in dollars.

Aren't there multiple forks with nonzero fiat price?
Is there a limit to the number of forks you can make?
