I bought a second hand Intel NUC, put a new SSD in it and running Ubuntu. Happy with it.

So you can wipe whatever operating system is on it then instal unbutu then add umbrel ?? Or can I just use umbrel as the operating system. ????

Yes I think they have win10 on it by default. I remember I had to thinker a bit with the bios to get it to boot from the ubuntu sdcard but its possible. Running umbrel on ubuntu indeed.

Ow to work out how to get my lightning node transferred to new hardware. That shit is making me nervous. I have 43 channels

Tell me about it. Safest is to close the channels and reopen but its not cheap. Copy lnd/cln app data across, shut down the pi and see if channels go online on nuc. If not go back and revert to pi.

So how does one copy the data.

Also was thinking of changing to start 9 as they have auto migrate that seems easy

If you stick to umbrel I think you can scp the app-data directory across
