The shade cast from your favorite tree that you will be sitting under this summer may very well have been planted by someone who never had the opportunity to enjoy it's shade.
As many of us break out from the grips of winter we are entering into a great time to plant trees. Go forth and plant a tree for the future generations to enjoy it's shade.

As for me, I'll be continuing to live stake my hybrid poplars for the benefits of my livestock. This will be the first year I'll be able to transplant 10'+ tall trees directly into our pasture design.
The past few years we've planted over 400 trees per spring and or fall planting. While we await the results of those plantings we look for unique opportunities to fill in any gaps in our design plan and continue to grow out a small tree nursery geared toward species best suited for grazing systems in our climate.
I plan on planting some trees this spring myself. Not hundreds though. Maybe 10. Or 20. I don’t know. But not hundreds.

DECENTRALIZED FORESTRY. ONE TREE AT A TIME.
I’m planning on some bald cypress and some sugar maples. We may be too far north, but I may try a few longleaf pine too.
