This infographic is confusing as I have a Bitcoin full node, electrs & mempool all running on an RPi or the β€œLite” as you’ve called it here, and I have experienced no issues.

Me too! I have a Pi 4gb of ram and I am able to run #bitcoin , Electrs, Nostr Relay, Snort, Robosats and Tailscale

Electrs and Mempool are possible if you use an external SSD.

The Server Lite runs entirely off a high endurance microSD card, which can't fit the whole Bitcoin blockchain or tx indexes, and those are necessary for electrs and Mempool. That's why it's only $199.

It is not recommended to use a Pi with an external SSD unless the SSD has its own power supply and the cord connecting it to the Pi is very high quality.

There is a reason why Start9, MyNode, Umbrel, Ronin Dojo, and others have come out with non-Pi devices, and why Start9 recommends installing StartOS on an old laptop or mini PC for DIY. It's because the Pi just barely delivers enough power to the SSD, so any minor fluctuation in power could result in glitchyb behavior or even disk corruption and loss of data.

A Pi without an SSD work just fine, but then has the limitation of storage space, making certain services unusuable. But many people don't care about electrs or Mempool, so it's perfect for them!

Thank you very much for the tech lesson! πŸ’œ

My server just arrived. Love it!

Which one did you get, I'm planning on getting one today?

Got a server one (2 TB). My biggest reason was for enhancing home computing privacy, etc. Got the 2 TB bc I will probably run bitcoin core at some point. Can pay with BTC to get a neat 9 percent discount.

got my email this am. My server arrives tomorrow. May my Umbrel RIP.
