Hey all! I need you all fellow Nostriches!

Nostr drove me back deep into privacy matters again. 😶‍🌫️ And I know I have made a lot of mistakes in the past. Know I want to right some wrongs and I have a lot of work to do! ✊

I'll have questions for you in the weeks to come. 🙏

First one that comes to mind:

I have a hardware wallet. I may have made the mistake to send KYC and non KYC BTC to it. Not the same transactions so not the same receiving addresses. Are my KYC BTC still unmarked? 🤔

What should I do know that it's done. And more importantly what shouldn't I do! 😶

Thanks for all the help you'll be able to provide! And please repost I'll need all the help I can get! 👍

Just don't spend those UTXOs in one transaction.

I thought so. Thanks appreciate it! 👍

So it means the non KYC aren't tainted yet right?

Yeah. Nobody knows those UTXOs belongs to the same wallet.

Ok. That's, at least, a good news! 😏

Thanks man. 👍

send the kyced utxo in its entirety through a mixer like wasabi (easiest) or whirlpool (slower) or joinmarket (harder) and into several new utxo addresses in your hw wallet. spend utxo's separately always, this just helps in case you mess up (join utxos in one transaction) later.

Ok. I haven't used a mixer yet. You tell me there's any easy one, a slow one and a hard one. But is one them better at mixing and making them more private?

they are all good, the problem is post-mix utxo management. don't lump several mixed utxos together, don't spend mixed coins with unmixed, don't move all of the utxos at the same time etc - basic sane practices.

usually the slow whirlpool is considered more private, while the super-fast wasabi2.0 has blacklisted utxos and raises some suspicions (but it's just paranoia). none of them has been succesfully unmixed so far, other than the user error post-mix.
