Beautiful! I love the colour combination 💙💛
Weird. But beautiful technique. May I ask how many hours that painting took? Also: Mitsubishi produces pencils too?? So marine motors, all kinds of air conditioners, and pencils too... I didn't know that.
Interesting - why “weird”?
I honest don’t know. I don’t track how many hours these take (that’s not the kind artist I want to be, at least not for these types of pieces). The maze making kind happens on a bit of an art trance state. The magic takes as much or a little time as it takes 😄
This came together over 2-3 weeks.
Hey thanks for your kind answer, it definitely wasnt meant to be an insult or anything like that, just my honest feeling atm. It's beautiful and I appreciate your work. Have a beautiful New Year :-D
Thanks! I didn’t think of it as an insult at all. I’m just genuinely interested in the feelings, thoughts, emotions that my art evokes in others. I often struggle to fully contextualize the finished product even after I’ve poured so much energy and intention into it - the final result always evades and becomes its own thing separate from any of my conscious direction.
I started this with a loose inspiration of “ocean waves” and somehow I wound up in the Pleiades in the end. I can see the connection between the two now in retrospect - cycles, voyage, mystery - but it was not a connection that was consciously drawn upon during the work.
And “weird” is a good word around these parts anyways, especially when taken into its fully entomological context.

I like it. Why the drip?
I’m not entirely sure but I know that I think it looks “correct” and that this particular piece would look “incomplete” without it.
Digging a little deeper, I think it’s to give the piece a bit more “life” so to speak. The drip takes in from something static to something more organic. So it becomes less like set mosaic patterning and more like something with its own pulse - something that might change subtly while one is not watching and be slightly different every time one view’s it.
