funny saying because that's one of the reasons why there's such a mess of languages in former yugoslavia. in reality (imo) there is 4 languages, slovenian, serbian, albanian and bulgarian. but the serbs, croats and bosnians pretend they aren't merely dialects and the macedonians pretend their language is not a dialect of bulgarian.
come to that, the distance between russian, serbian and bulgarian isn't that great either, russian is like bulgarian with german grammar, and serbian is like baby russian.
