but you do have a point, PDF's are good for printing.

You can export them as PDF. Or LaTeX or ePUB or whatnot. But you don't want to work with them as PDFs.

PDFs are a snapshot, not a living document.

In the case of datasheets, the knowledgebase is usually outsourced to a cheap intern

Well, yeah, I mean, it's probably reports generated from a database, anyway.

That's how we did them, for motors and clutches, or software release notes, or whatnot.
