Early vine was elite
Vine can't feel alive again because in the modern era it would be populated with crossposts drowning out new content creators, and that would also make it harder to attract passionate new content creators. Vine's short time limit and stuff was all meant to create a new format that wouldn't be populated with crossposts as far into the internet as we were at the time; can't replicate that.

What you're looking for is decentralized video hosting + an app that can filter videos to the vine format + a web of trust or other feed curation system that helps passionate content creators stand out and attracts them 🤙
I know they have loops with mastodon it’s trying to be like TikTok and what not. That’s the best we are gonna get. Vine was the OG for short form content and had some great memes.

If there were a way to restrict users to only upload videos recorded directly from their cameras, it would likely improve content authenticity. Of course, an extremely invested person could find a way to circumvent such restrictions, but maybe we can implement some clever mechanism to make sure it's fresh content.
