Hey #golfstr any tips for getting better at putting?

My driving and irons have improved a ton and I’ll be putting for par most holes then end up 3-putting. #asknostr

I try not to leave it short. If it passes the hole you at least get a read for the line back. But distance control and reading the green are the hardest thing for me. Sometimes I over read greens.

Putting is always a ride.

The one thing I’ve noticed through the years is that confidence is everything.

Just typing that out means that it’s in your head before every putt.

You’re putting not to 3-putt instead of putting to make it.

Similar to bitcoin, you have to put in the work. Hit up the practice green at your course for an hour or two each week. Don’t work on 10 footers though. Work on 30-40 footers and just work on your speed and feel.

The easiest fix for me is always just keeping my head still. Whenever I’m putting bad I get anxious and want to see what happens so I come out of the putt early and derails everything.

Hope that helps a little!

Find a flat area on a practice green and put tees 5,10,15,20… feet away and hit a bunch of putts until you get a feel for each distance

When it comes to making putts it’s all mental assuming your stroke is not horrible.

Read Bob Rotella’s The Golfer’s Mind. My golf improved so much after I read it. It’s probably most helpful for people that have been playing for a while and compete since that’s when the mind starts to betray you, but great read otherwise too

Thanks! I’ll check out the book when I improve a bit more 😅

100% mental. It’s all confidence.
