I always wonder since solo miners very rarely mine blocks how do they effect decentralization of bitcoin network in practice?
Discussion
To guess the number to win a block you need computing power. Centralized miners have a lot of computing power, a big computer in essence. A solo miner is a small computer. A lot of small decentralized computers add up to a lot of computing power to compete with centralized miners to win blocks.
And thus fortify the #Bitcoin network against things like a 51% attack or forks.
As well fortify from taxation, regulation etc
So can one say that with growing number of Bitaxe solo miners the number of blocks they'll mine will increase...I guess.
Collectively yes. Or one could say, the more solo miners there are, the more Blocks will be mined decentraly vs centrally.
Makes sense. I was in a wrong for some time thinking that solo miners add value to decentralization and strengthening the network by just adding to the hashrate but that alone is not enough. That would be the case if Bitaxes would be pointed at certain decentralized pools. Correct? But seems like around 80 sats a day.
