I need to get rid of my phone. Does anybody have a recommendation for a cell phone with good functionality that runs open source soft ware with an open app store?
Required Apps: GPS/Map, 2FA authenticator, note pad, signal/telegram, probably several others.
I will accept the inconvienances of moving away from apple/google.

Phones are very hard, a ton of regulations around radio transmission, emergency services, consumer safety, you name it. That’s why all of them failed or failing.
Plus, you have telco and isp that are irreplaceable! 🐶🐾🫡
Remember blackberry, they all replaced for iPhone...
If you can do it yourself, some phones with possibility to unlock bootloaders : Google Pixel phones, OnePlus, Samsung devices with the Exynos processor, Motorola phones, Xiaomi, Oppo, Nokia, Asus.

Have an Android with good camera and battery. There is no walled garden here.
+1 on Pixel with GrapheneOS, but labourious to set up for max privacy and security.
Recent attack that affected even those and only required knowing the victim’s number, prompted me to return to feature phone for calls, sms and public sim number; Nokia still makes great ones.
Pixel now only gets to connect through WiFi, even on the go.
Not a practical setup for most though, especially doctors. :(

Use silent.link or similar privacy preserving way to get a SIM/eSIM. Never actually use the voice/SMS but do everything over data.
I literally don’t even know my own current phone number.
